    Obituary for Helen Crist Dale Helen Crist Dale
    Lauderdale A.R.P. Church Member Dies At Age 87

    Helen Crist Dale, 87, of Lexington, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 26, 2009 at the Augusta Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

    She was born May 1, 1922, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Reed Crist Sr.

    In addition to her parents, she is preceded in dath by her husband, Russell Dale; brothers, James Arthur Crist and William Preston Crist; sisters, Catherine Crist Nelson, Isabel Crist Swisher and Margaret Lee Crist.

    Helen was a member of the Lauderdale A.R.P. Church where she was a member of the Friendly Bible Class, the choir and the Willing Workers Club.

    Helen is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Newell and her hsuband, Timothy Newell of Buena Vista; a granddaughter, Fallon C. Madden; sisters, Dorothy Crist Camden of Stuarts Draft, Louise Crist Baber of Virginia Beach, Lula Mae Crist Deardorff of Verona and Betty Ann Crist Akers of Boca Raton, FL; and a brother, Arthur "Buddy" Crist of Lexington.

    Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 30, 2009 at the Harrison Funeral Home with the Pastor Art Brumitt officiating. Burial will follow at the Stonewall Jackson Cemetery. The family will receive friends at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made in honor of Helen Dale to the Alzheimer's Association, 2728 Colonial Ave, Suite 2, Roanoke, VA 24015.

    The family would also like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Augusta Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

    Arrangements are being handled by the Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington, Virginia.
