    Obituary for Herbert Edward Williams, Sr. Herbert Edward Williams, Sr.
    Navy Veteran Was Professional Photographer

    Herbert Edward Williams, Sr., 78, of 1801 Gravel Ridge Road, Covington, Virginia, died Monday, September 28, 2009 at his residence.

    He was born July 11, 1931 in Washington, DC, a son of the late William Oscar and Helen Turner Williams.

    Mr. Williams served with the United States Navy.

    He was a photographer and owned his studio in Miami, Florida for over 40 years.

    He was a member of the GideonŐs Society, Civitans Club of Homestead, Florida and the Professional Photography Guild of Florida; He was a member of First Christian Church, where served as an Elder and a Sunday School Teacher.

    In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Carter Williams in 2007.

    Surviving are his son and daughter in law, Herbert E. "Eddie" and Shirley Williams of Covington; a daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Les Barron of Covington; four grandchildren, Trevor Barron; Brooke Barron; Katie Williams and Jacob Williams; two brothers, Robert Williams and his wife, Cheryl of Richmond and Thomas Williams and his wife, Elaine of California.

    The funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 3, 2009 in the Arritt Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bill Gilliland officiating.

    The interment will be made in the Carter Cemetery on Snake Run.

    Friends may pay their respects any time at Arritt Funeral Home, Covington, Virginia. The family will receive their friends Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

    Memorials: The family suggests that memorial donations in Mr. Williams' name may be made to the Alleghany County Humane Society, P.O. Box 60, Low Moor, VA 24457.
