Truman Branson Parker, 77, of Natural Bridge Station, Virginia, died Tuesday, October 13, 2009 in the Stonewall Jackson Hospital.
Born October 29, 1931 in Natural Bridge, he was the beloved son of the late Berman E. Parker and Sadie Cash Parker.
Also preceding him in death was an infant sister; and a brother-in-law, Charles McCormick.
Mr. Parker was a United States Navy veteran, serving on an aircraft carrier in the Pacific during the Korean War.
He was employed by Georgia Bonded Fibers and retired from Burlington Industries.
Truman was a farmer, avid hunter and fisherman.
He is survived by two sisters, Naola McCormick of Roanoke and Kyula (Kay) Poff and husband, Joseph of York, PA; four nieces: Pam Murray of Madison, Al; Jennifer Schuchart and husband, Tony of York, PA, Kathy Allie and husband, Vernon of New Castle, Va and Bonnie Wingo and husband, Ronald of Roanoke; one newphew, Gregg Poff and wife, Tammy of York, PA; eight great nieces and nephews; and three great great nieces.
He had many special friends and kind neighbors in the Arnolds Valley area.
A memorial service was conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, October 18, 2009 at the Harrison Funeral Home with the Rev. Michael Wilburn officiating. Interment was private. The family received friends from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service.
