Janie Nuckols Clevenger, 85, of Buena Vista, Virginia died Saturday, October 24, 2009 in Golden Living Center.

She was born on June 21, 1924 in Rockbridge County, the daughter of the late Jim and Bess Nuckols.

She is preceded in death by husband Daniel F. Clevenger.

She is survived by her seven children, sons: Charles F. Clevenger and wife, Becky of Poquoson, VA, Jimmy Clevenger of Buena Vista, John "Snake" Clevenger and wife, Kathy of Buena Vista, and Joseph Clevenger, of Buena Vista; three daughters, Hilda Jarvis and husband, Curtis of Timber Ridge, Bonnie Gibson, of Buena Vista, Brenda Cullen and husband, Butch of Buena Vista; 16 grandchildren, and 28 great grandchildren.

Mrs. Clevenger was a member of McCutcheon Presbyterian Church and retired in 1988 with 42 years of service from Burlington Industries.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at Bolling, Grose and Lotts Funeral Home with Pastor Arnold E. Bradley officiating. Burial will follow at Spring Valley Baptist Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Home, Buena Vista.
