    Obituary for Hallie Virginia (Dolly) Porterfield Hallie Virginia (Dolly) Porterfield
    Alleghany County Native Was Employed By Ritsch's Cleaner

    Hallie Virginia (Dolly) Porterfield, 57 of Dolly Ann, Covington, Virginia, died October 31, 2009.

    She was born June 25, 1952 in Alleghany County, a daughter of the late Arthur W. and Allie Belle Campbell Sloan.

    Dolly was employed by Ritsch's Cleaners in Covington.

    Surviving are two sons, Robert Dressler of Midolothian and Michael Dressler of Florida; one grandson, Logan Bryce; two brothers, Wallace Sloan and his wife, Dreama of Chester and James Sloan of Covington; a niece, Stephanie Sloan of Clifton Forge; four nephews, Alan Sloan, Roman Sloan, Kyle Sloan and Gene Shupe; great nieces and nephews, Alana Sloan, Zack Sloan, Krystal Sloan, Gabriel Sloan, Summer Sloan and Carter Sloan ; one great great niece, Allie Sloan and a special friend and companion, Phillip Craft.

    In keeping with Dolly's wishes, her body has been donated to medical science.

    A memorial service will be held a later date.

    Memorials: The family suggests that memorial donations may be made in Ms. Porterfield's name to Mountain Regional Hospice, P.O. Box 637, Clifton Forge, VA 24426.

    Arrangements are being handled by the Arritt Funeral Home, Covington, Virginia.
