    Obituary for Clarence Reginald Gibson Clarence Reginald Gibson

    Clarence Reginald Gibson, 82, of 824 Brussels Ave., Clifton Forge, died Friday evening, October 30, 2009 at his residence.

    He was born in Clifton Forge, Virginia on May 13, 1927, a son of the late William Lewis and Naomi Howard Gibson.

    He was a retired section storekeeper with CSX Transportation in Clifton Forge.

    He was a member of the Clifton Forge Presbyterian Church and was a strong song leader in the church.

    He served his country in the United States Air Force in the European Theatre of Operations during World War II.

    He is survived by his wife Barbara Buchanan Gibson of Clifton Forge; a daughter, Charlotte Louise Gibson Dillon of Clifton Forge; 4 sisters, Lois Ford of Charleston, West Virginia, Margaret Dame of Selma, Katherine Van Ness of Clifton Forge and JoAnne Scobee of La Junta, Colorado; a brother, William "Billy" Gibson of Yelm, Washington; a number of nieces and nephews.

    He is also survived by special care givers Sherry Fridley, Steve Wilmer, Jeannie Boguess and Betty Dudley.

    He was preceded in death by two sisters, Evelyn Childs and Eleanor Kindt; brothers, Richard Gibson, Charles H. Gibson and Robert Bernard "Bernie" Gibson; a grandchild, Timothy Rock.

    A funeral service will be conducted Monday morning at 11:00 a.m. from the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, with Mr. Bill Colvin and Rev. Paul Brokaw officiating. Interment will follow in the Mountain View Cemetery, Clifton Forge. Active pallbearers will be Blair Nicely, Tommy Vest, Chad Nicely, David Buchanan, Michael Buchanan, Sam Anderson, Bobby Buchanan and Brian Buchanan. The family will receive friends Sunday evening 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home. The family suggest memorial tributes take the form of contributions in Reginald's name to the Clifton Forge Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 20, Clifton Forge.

    The Nicely Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
