Henry Owens (Ike) Hamilton, Sr., 74 of Buena Vista, Virginia, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 5, 2009 after a brief illness at his home.

Born April 11, 1935 in Amherst County, he was a son of the late Susie J. Hamilton.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Richard, Willy and Eugene Hamilton; and a sister, Virginia Gregory.

He was retired from Local 77 of the Operating Engineers.

Surviving are his loving wife of 49 years, Judy A. Hamilton; three daughters, Donna Coleman and husband, Wallace, Pamela Hamilton, all of Buena Vista, and Lisa Poston and husband, Mark of Salem; two sons, Henry Owens Hamilton, Jr. and Michael Hamilton and wife, Kelly, all of Buena Vista; nine grandchildren; five great grandchildren; four sisters, Essie McDaniel, Madeline Bardis of Buena Vista, Virgie Martin of Staunton, VA, Ludie Queen of Buchannan, WV; special family friend, Bonnie Morris of Lexington.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, November 9, 2009 at the Buena Vista Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. W. A. Mills and Rev. David Bain officiating. Burial will follow in Rockbridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church from 6 Ð 8 p.m., Sunday, November 8, 2009.
