Thelma Dew Whitmer, age 90, of Greenfield, IN, passed away Tuesday November 10, 2009 in Brandywine Nursing Home in Greenfield.

She was born October 8, 1919 in Iron Gate, Virginia, a daughter of the late Lewis Henry Dew and Mary Fussie Dew.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Lewis Whitmer in 1985 and a son Donald E. Whitmer in 2006.

She is survived by her children David L. Whitmer of Greenfield, IN, and Dwight H. Whitmer and wife, Leslie of New Palestine, IN; three grandchildren: April Whitmer Parsons of Proctorville, OH, Jacob H. Whitmer and Mollie E. Whitmer, both of New Palestine, IN; a sister, Shirley Conner of Kenova, WV; a brother, Norman E. Dew and wife, Annabelle of Iron Gate, a brother-in-law, Charles E. Whitmer of Clifton Forge, and a sister-in-law, Marguerite Kirk of Roanoke.

A funeral service will be conducted on Friday at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend J. Glenn Linthicum officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Covington. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home.
