Armstrong will be teacher Language Arts and Science at Waddell; Hagy will be teaching Social Studies at Lylburn Downing Middle School; Johnson will teach English at LDMS; Joyner's specialty is Latin and will teach at LDMS. | New Lexington Teachers Noted
|
| Four new teachers have joined the Lexington School System for the current academic year.
Laura Joyner, of Lexington, will be teaching Latin at Lylburn Downing Middle School this year. She is a graduate of St. John's College of Maryland with a major in Classics. She received her Master of Arts degree in Latin from Vanderbilt University. Mrs. Joyner also has taught at the Maury River Middle School and at Hardeth Hall School. She lives with her husband Jamie (who is a Target Corp. group leader at its distribution center) and the couple's two children, Thomas, 9, and Caroline, 6.
Stephanie Johnson joins the school division as a native of Minneapolis, MN. She graduated from Luther College in Iowa with a major in English. She received her Masters degree in English Education from the University of Oklahoma and will be teaching English at Lylburn Downing Middle School this year. She lives with her husband, Dan, who is a professor of Psychology at W&L.
Carol B. Armstrong was born in Worcester, Massachusetts and graduated from Brigham Young University in Utah with a degree in European Studies. She received her Masters degree in teaching from Mary Baldwin College and will be teaching Language Arts and Science at Lylburn Downing Middle School this year. She is married to John M. Armstrong, who is a professor of Philosophy at Southern Virginia University. The couple has four children: Joanna, 16, Sam, 13, Ray, 10 and Isaac, 8.
Joseph Hagy comes to Lexington as a native of York County, Virginia with an undergraduate degree in Liberal Studies with a minor in History from Longwood College. Hagy worked with the Buckingham County school division in 2007 at a varsity pitching coach and in 2008 at the head JV baseball coach. His fiance is Stephanie Work, a teacher at Rivermont School. Hagy will be teaching Social Studies at Lylburn Downing Middle School this year. | | | | | |
