Library Director Introduces New Employees To Buena Vista

The following statement is being issued to the Buena Vista City Council at its Thursday, September 3, 2009 meeting from Rockbridge Regional Library Director Alan Bobowski:

"On behalf of the Trustees of the Rockbridge Regional Library it is my pleasure to introduce two new staff members who will be serving patrons in Buena Vista. Behn Trader is the new manager of the Buena Vista Branch Library and Nessa O’Hare has been appointed as the Training Coordinator for the Buena Vista Training and Call Center.

"Behn is a 2008 graduate of the University of Delaware and has worked for six years serving in the New Castle County Library System. For the past year and a half Behn assisted the Claymont Library in overseeing public service at circulation, as well as supervision and training of staff and volunteers. He has also worked at Hockessin and Newark Libraries in New Castle County. Behn wants the community to know that he feels both privileged and motivated to continue to serve the informational needs of the citizens of Buena Vista. He plans to pursue a degree in Library Science in the very near future.

"Behn will be Buena Vista’s first full-time branch manager. The Library Trustees felt that Buena Vista, being the 2nd busiest branch in the system, needed full-time leadership in order to provide the best library service to the patrons in this area. The Trustees made the decision to eliminate a position at the Lexington Headquarters Library in order to make the Buena Vista Manager’s position full-time. In addition to this, the Buena Vista Branch will also be open an extra half hour, until 5:30, four days a week to help residents get their library materials on their way home at the end of the work day. This increases library hours in Buena Vista from 36 to 38 per week.

"Nessa O’Hare is our new training coordinator for the Buena Training and Call Center. As you will recall The Training and Call Center is a joint project of the City of Buena Vista, the Dabney S. Lancaster Community College, and the Library. The Center will provide free training in the use of computer and basic software and advanced training in the customer service skills needed for our residents to find employment in the call center industry – an area of economic growth identified in the City’s development plans.

"Nessa has recently served as a Director of Marketing & Advertising for a local real estate firm, and has a great deal of teaching experience with pupils of all ages, both in the public and private sector. While employed as an Assistant Director of Education at Sylvan Learning Center, she had the great opportunity of working with adult residents of the Rockbridge area who courageously sought out the gift of literacy. These adult learners are now able to pick up a local newspaper, or tuck their children in at night with a bedtime story, and read with confidence. As an educator, and one who has real life experience in public relations and customer service, Nessa intends to call upon her background to help her serve her community once again with the Buena Vista Training & Call center.

"All of us at the Rockbridge Regional Library are excited about the new dimensions in service that our two newest colleagues make possible in Buena Vista and the entire library service area."
