UPDATED: Candidate Forums Coming Up Sept 15th and 17th

With the Labor Day Breakfasts and Parade now behind us, folks are starting to think about the upcoming elections. With the Walker's Creek District Supervisor seat up for grabs, two candidates have declared themselves with incumbent Buster Lewis being opposed by Woody Mumma. 24th District Delegate Ben Cline's seat is up for re-election and he is running as a Republican with Democratic candidate Jeff Price opposing him.

Several candidates' forums are scheduled so residents can hear about the positions of the local candidates with two coming up next week.

• Tuesday, September 15th, the Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a “Candidates Forum” on at the Hampton Inn Col Alto that will begin promptly at 5:30 pm. Representing the 24th District House Seat, Ben Cline and his opponent Jeff Price will be in attendance and Buster Lewis and Woody Mumma, who are running for the only contested seat for the Board of Supervisors, Walkers Creek district will also participate. The format will be similar to those in the past where each candidate will be asked to address questions, received ahead of time, from the committee. Questions and focus will be business and economic development in nature. There will also, if time permits, be a Q&A session from attendants. There is no fee to attend but please RSVP to Sherrie at 463-5375 or email sherrie@lexrockchamber.com if you plan to attend.

• Thursday, September 17th, Rockbridge County Awareness is sponsoring a forum at the Rockbridge Baths Fire House at 7 p.m.

• Monday, September 21st at 7 p.m. 14th Annual Candidate Forum in Vesuvius at the Community Center. All candidates for whom Vesuvius and Rockbridge Residents can vote have been invited including State-wide candidates, Local School Board, Local Supervisors, both Rockbridge and Nelson County Incumbents have been invited to give updates on their activities -- Carroll Comstock for Rockbridge, Nancy Sorrells for Augusta. Also invited are the Chairmen of the Rockbridge Republican and Democratic Committees.

• Thursday, October 8th, a forum will be held in Brownsburg. More detail forthcoming.
