Martial Arts comes to the Natural Bridge Gymnasium October 7th
|
| The Natural Bridge Gymnasium and Community Center is proud to announce an addition to their recreational offerings of football, cheer leading and basketball: martial arts!
Dan Kimber, a Glasgow resident with nearly 20 years of training in 6 different disciplines of martial arts, and first degree black belts in both Shito-Ryu and Japanese Kempo, has graciously volunteered to be Sensei (instructor) for a new series of classes. His goal is to inspire self esteem, discipline and fitness in his students regardless of age, skill or gender!
"This is a great family activity, and can bring both adults and children great personal satisfaction", says Kimber. "You never stop learning and growing in this sport"!
Instruction is open to students (3rd through 12th grade) and adults. The classes will be held at the gym, located behind the former NBHS, 45 Natural Bridge School Road in Natural Bridge Station. The first class is on Wednesday, October 7, from 6:30-7:30 PM, and continues on both Mondays and Wednesdays at the same time.
Registration will be held on Monday, Sept. 28 and on Thursday, Oct. 1, from 6:30-7:30, at the Gym.
Registration and first month fees include an annual AAU membership, which includes insurance, and are $20 for students (from 3rd through 12th grade) and $30 for adults ages 18+. Monthly fees thereafter are $15 for individuals and $25 for families.
The volunteers of the Natural Bridge Gymnasium & Community Center Committee are honored and happy to welcome Dan to their growing roster of volunteer instructors. The gymnasium is handicap accessible, and is operated under an agreement with the Rockbridge County Government.
