Dedication Of Lyle Shelter To Be Held At Goshen Pass Wayside Public Invited to RACC Picnic and Silent Auction |
| The Rockbridge Area Conservation Council’s (RACC) Annual Potluck Picnic will be held rain-or-shine Sunday, October 11, beginning at 1:00 P.M. at the Rockbridge Baths Firehouse. A silent auction of donated works of art, crafts, food specialties, commercial services, and imaginative opportunities will be conducted to raise funds for the Council. This year’s silent auction includes a photograph by Sally Mann.
Carpooling will be available to transport attendants to the Goshen Pass Wayside where a narrated flora/fauna and geology walk, guided by W&L Emeritus Professors, John Knox and Ed Spencer, will start at the new construction of the Lyle Shelter beginning at 1:20 P.M.
A salute to RACC founding conservationist, Royster Lyle, Jr. will take place at the shelter at 2:30 PM. The potluck picnic and silent auction will resume at the firehouse at 3:00 P.M. Beverages and place settings will be provided.
Annual Sustainability Awards will be announced during a brief meeting following the picnic. At 4:30 P.M., high bidders for the silent auction will be announced, and the winning ticket for the bike raffle will be drawn.
