Letter: In Praise Of The Mill Creek Cafe

Dear Editor, Rockbridge Weekly:

Every now and then something pleasant happens and I believe I have found that in the new Mill Creek Cafe in Goshen. I hadn’t eaten there for sometime, but when our neighbors invited us to join them this summer, describing the possibilities of sitting outside at picnic tables, listening to a bluegrass band and eating seafood, naturally my interest was heightened and I said we would love to go with them for dinner.

What a delightful find and what a pleasant surprise to find an oasis in a small town which has lost so much over the years. That night at the Mill Creek Cafe, under the stars, we ate fantastic steamed clams, oysters and fries while our friends ate steamed shrimp while listening to a bluegrass band. The atmosphere was relaxed and there was a feeling of comradeship within the group relaxing under the stars while eating wonderfully tasty food. If you look at their website you can see where they are planning on hosting karaoke nights, LAN games and are open to any ideas that will make the Mill Creek Café a fun and relaxing place. During the summer months every Friday and Saturday night they held these outdoor events and on Sundays they have gospel music.

I felt a sense of renewal in visiting Mill Creek Cafe, not only in the great food, but the friendly atmosphere and the willingness of the owner to be open to new events or ideas that would make the cafe a real dining experience. I would encourage people to try the Mill Creek Cafe, not only for the great food but for the warm and inviting real down home atmosphere. Who knows someone may be singing your song on karaoke night.

Sincerely

Rebecca S. Mumma

Goshen
