Letter: A Thanks To Local Recycling Workers

Dear Editor, Rockbridge Weekly:

Often we take for granted those jobs that others perform which significantly impact on our lives on a daily basis. For example, how often do people stop at their local Recycling Center to dispose of trash and those items for recycling without considering all the efforts that go into making our community a better place in which to live? Do people really consider what occurs to all the trash, tin cans, bottles, etc once they leave them off at the recycling site? I very much doubt it, but we all should be aware that our country has become the throwaway society and I consider recycling an integral part of our lives and successful recycling depends on those who work at the recycling centers as well as those in the community.

These folks who work at these sites often go unappreciated and probably unnoticed. Because I recently ran for public office I had a large number of campaign signs which needed to be taken to the Goshen Recycling site. When I arrived at the site with my pickup truck loaded with these signs, Donald immediately greeted me as I entered with a friendly smile and willingness to help me. Together we separated all the metal from the plastic signs disposing of them in the proper receptacles.

I usually stop at the Goshen Recycling site two or three times a week and I always find that Linda Arnold and Donald Ingram are always pleasant and willing to help. They always come out to greet me when I arrive. The site is always clean and well organized. I really want to thank Linda and Donald for doing such a good job. They help to contribute in keeping our community a better place to live.

Sincerely,

Woody Mumma

Goshen
