Buena Vista Thanksgiving Service Set Sunday, Nov. 22

The annual Community Thanksgiving service, sponsored by the Buena Vista Ministerial Alliance, will be held Sunday, November 22 at 6:00 p.m. The location will be at the Buena Vista Stone Church of the Brethren, 2162 Forest Avenue.

Every November the churches of the alliance invite the community to gather and give thanks to Almighty God. In addition to singing hymns of thanksgiving and praise, the Rev. Rick Labate, pastor of Buena Vista Seventh Day Adventist Church, will bring the Thanksgiving message.

“It’s a great time for people to come together and remember that God is the source of America’s blessings. It is God who has prospered us as a community and as a nation,” said the Rev. Christian Becker, president of the alliance. “People often talk about ‘being thankful,’ but to whom are we thankful? Our Pilgrim forefathers believed in thanking God.”

According to Becker, the goal of the ministerial alliance is to encourage fellowship of Christian Pastors, cooperation of local Christian churches and to minister to the poor by supporting local charities.

A free will offering will be received during the service and will be divided between the Salvation Army and the Rockbridge Area Relief Association.
