| • Candlelight Processional and Community Tree Lighting Ceremony
Lexington’s Annual Candlelight Processional and Community Tree Lighting Ceremony will be held Friday, November 27th. Participants are requested to assemble at the Main Street entrance of the Stonewall Jackson Cemetery beginning at 5:15 pm, where holiday song sheets and candles will be distributed. At 5:30 pm. Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus, in a horse drawn carriage provided by the Lexington Carriage Company, will lead the Processional down Main Street, caroling all the way to Hopkins Green.
At Hopkins Green, Kelly Harris will lead the group in singing carols as the Community Christmas tree is lit by Mayor Mimi Elrod. Refreshments will be provided by the Lexington Lions Club.
Bring your family and friends and join us in this community holiday tradition sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce.
• SPCA Luminaries.
The SPCA will once again sell pet luminaries to decorate Hopkins Green on November 27th. The luminaries are $5 for one or three for $12. Please contact the Chamber, SPCA or your local vet by Monday, November 23rd to be included. Honor your pet and their importance to you and your family and help the SPCA at this special time of year.
• Holiday Windows Walk
Participating downtown merchants will deck the halls and decorate their store windows for the season, then unveil them as the Candlelight Processional passes by on November 27th. You be the judge for the best dressed window! Ballot forms will be available at Hopkins Green during the Candlelight Processional and Tree Lighting and also available at the Chamber of Commerce thereafter. Complete ballots should be faxed, emailed, or brought back to the Chamber of Commerce. The winner will be announced during the Friday Night Lights “Christmas Around the World” on Friday, December 4th. The Chamber’s fax number is 540-463-3567; the address is 100 East Washington Street.
• Wide Open Weekend (WOW)
Wide Open Weekend will kick-off on Friday, November 27th and continue through Sunday, November 29th. On this weekend, stores are open and ready for your business, with many of them hosting their Holiday Open Houses. They will offer extended hours, refreshments and shopping assistance for that “hard to buy for person”. Also many offer personal shopping assistance, gift registries and ALL offer great merchandise and superb customer service. Get a jump on your holiday shopping and visit the participating merchants over this weekend.
