Magnolia Players Present "Christmas Clue"

| Who kidnapped Santa Claus? Was it the devious Colonel Mustard in the library with a thick rope? Or the enticing Miss Scarlet in the darkened study with a rusty pipe? Come and guess whodunit at the dramatic production of “Christmas Clue”. The Magnolia Center of Buena Vista will present the play on December 8, 9, and 10 at 1pm. The sensational production is an original work by the Magnolia Players and staff members.
“Christmas Clue” is loosely based upon the game Clue, with a few twists and unexpected turns. Someone has kidnapped Santa Claus and everyone at Christmas dinner is a suspect. Join the Magnolia Players in solving the mystery to save Santa and Christmas! Great music, laughs all around, and a surprise ending will make you cheer for an encore! “Each play is different. Each play is a new challenge for our individuals. This one will be fun times for everyone!” staff member Heather Ingram said.
“It’s going to be a great time for all!” the program director, Kathy Collins-Marlatt said. “It’ll put you in the holiday spirit!”
The Magnolia Center has staged play productions for several years. Each play is a collaborative effort between the cast and members of the staff. Every person has the opportunity to voice their ideas. After a basic storyline was agreed upon, with the original idea provided by staff member Ann Schrader, the group began trying out the script written by the play’s director, staff member Laura Williams. The actors of the Magnolia Players have been gearing up for the production for the past few months with set design, casting, weekly rehearsals, and costume design. The individuals who attend the Magnolia Center and the staff members all pull together to make the play a success. Daily acting classes are held for the cast, costumes are rented or purchased, staff members paint the scenery and put together sound effects and music.
“We all love getting the play together and having a great time doing it,” said Williams. “It’s wonderful when the whole cast and crew can cooperate to create such a great production. Everyone is really excited.”
The Magnolia Center is located at 397 E. 29th St. in Buena Vista. Admission is free. For more information, call 540-261-3877. | | | | | |
