Medical Director to Discuss Healthcare and Wellness, Roe v. Wade

| Patrick Stern, director of developmental and behavioral pediatrics at East Tennessee State University’s James H. Quillen College of Medicine, will present a forum address entitled “A Wellness Plan: Healthcare Needs to Treat More Than Sickness,” at Southern Virginia University on Friday, December 4, at 11 a.m. in the Stoddard Activities Center.
Doctor Stern will also join Southern Virginia University President Rodney K. Smith on Thursday evening, December 3, at 6:00 in Main Hall to discuss “The Legal and Medical Impact of Roe v. Wade.” President Smith is a constitutional law expert and former law school dean.
In addition to his duties as the director of developmental and behavioral pediatrics, Stern is a professor of pediatrics and child psychiatry. He also practices medicine at Johnson City Medical Center in general and developmental/behavioral pediatrics.
He has written and published over 20 journal articles, among which are “When Children With Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder Become Adults” and “Professionals’ Perceptions of Divorce Involving Children.”
Doctor Stern received his doctor of medicine degree from Case Western Reserve University and then completed his residency at Wilford Hall, United States Air Force Medical Center. He fulfilled fellowships at Hanna Pavilion and the Cleveland Metropolitan General Hospital.
