Walker's Run Releases 'Live At Lime Kiln'
|
| In its first official release in nine years, exploratory bluegrass band Walker’s Run is releasing select tracks from a recent performance at the Theater at Lime Kiln in Lexington, Virginia. Live at Lime Kiln features five tracks from the band’s September 2009 concert, including both original and traditional songs. The EP also features one original studio recording, “Natalie,” recorded at Small World Audio in Afton, Virginia. The EP is being released via online download, available at www.walkersrun.com.
Over the last decade, Walker’s Run has developed a loyal following in and around Virginia and Washington, DC for its unique, fiery mountain-music. Walking the fine line between tradition and exploration, the group has packed major venues and sold thousands of copies of its debut CD released in 2000. In 2009, the group welcomed two new members, both well-acclaimed instrumentalists in the national acoustic music scene: mandolin player Andy Thacker (Adrienne Young) and fiddler Nick Reeb (King Wilkie). The rest of the group includes Brennan Gilmore on guitar and vocals and Zack Blatter on upright bass. Will Lee, who led the legendary Magraw Gap and was an early musical mentor to the Walker’s Run boys growing up in Rockbridge County, VA often joins the group on banjo and vocals. Walker's Run and its members have appeared on prestigious stages throughout the United States and overseas, including the Kennedy Center, Telluride Bluegrass Festival, and many more.
Walker’s Run’s next appearance will be at the recently-opened Southern Music Hall in Charlottesville, VA on December 19, 2009 at 8pm. Walker’s Run will be joined by acclaimed central Virginia acoustic duo, the Honey Dewdrops. For more information, please visit: www.thesoutherncville.com/. | | | | | |
