Robin and Linda Williams To Perform In Fincastle
|
| FINCASTLE, VA (December 11, 2009) - Robin and Linda Williams and Their Fine Group will appear for a return engagement at the upcoming Fincastle 12th Night Charity Concert. They performed before a capacity audience in 2008. The 26th annual program will be held Saturday January 9, 2010 beginning at 7 p.m. in the Attic Productions D. Geraldine Lawson Theater at 7490 Roanoke Road in Fincastle. Linnie Gregory, who performs with Attic Productions, will be Master of Ceremonies.
Robin and Linda Williams are joined in concert by Jim Watson, a founding member of the Red Clay Ramblers, on bass and his distinctive harmony vocals, and Tony Williamson on mandolin. They have appeared on The Grand Ole Opry, "Austin City Limits," American "Mountain Stage," "Music City Tonight," and have enjoyed the rejuvenation of The Hopeful Gospel Quartet on Garrison Keillor's "A Prairie Home Companion." They have performed in Philadelphia and Kerrville Folk Festivals, bluegrass-oriented festivals such as Winterhawk, Wings & Strings and the Delaware Valley Bluegrass Festival, arts centers and concert halls in dozens of states across the US, in Canada and Europe.
Each year the Twelfth Night Charity presents a concert of free family entertainment for the entire community. The charity concert has its origin at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Fincastle where the first concert was held in 1985. The 12th Night concert is free to the public, but admission tickets are required due to limited seating. Patrons are requested to bring food and money as voluntary offerings for the two benefiting charities, the Botetourt County Food Pantry and the Botetourt County Social Services Emergency Winter Fuel Fund.
All concert proceeds are distributed between the two charities. The Food Pantry gives packaged food to needy families and provides other emergency assistance, while the Emergency Fuel Fund assists economically depressed families and individuals having difficulties paying winter utility bills. The Food Pantry provides non-perishable canned goods, breads and baked goods, and frozen meats as available. The variety of food available is dependent on the donations of local civic groups and individuals. The Emergency Fuel Fund depends on donations for assistance. The concert provides a major contribution to both charities.
The concert is organized and produced by volunteers from St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, Fincastle, and the local community. Advance tickets are available at all Bank of Botetourt branches, at Digital Image Printing in Daleville, and by mail at 12th Night Concert, Attn: Treasurer, P.O. Box 277, Fincastle, VA 24090. Mail request should include a self-addressed and stamped return mail envelope. Additional information is available at www.stmarksfincastle.org or email smecadmin@ntelos.net.
