Glasgow-Rockbridge AARP Meeting Set January 2, 2010

| Cathy Shaner Carlock, Investment Advisor with the Main Street Group, will be the guest speaker at the Saturday, January 2, noon meeting of the Glasgow/Rockbridge AARP chapter 2071, to be held at G Willakers. Her topic will be “The Family Love Letters; Information for a time of Confusion,” a unique estate planning tool and a great way to help organize your financial life.
The program will also include a late special Christmas program.
Margaret Harris will be taking names of chapter members to be volunteers at the Monday, January 18, blood drive to be held at the American Legion building in Buena Vista.
Dues for the year 2010 will be collected at this meeting by the membership chairwoman, Sylvia Burch. All those coming should remember to bring their chapter AARP membership card as well as their National AARP card.
Donations were made to the following organizations by the chapter, during the month of December: Raphine Volunteer Fire Dept., Walkers Creek Volunteer Fire Dept., Natural Bridge Volunteer Fire Dept., Effinger Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad, Rockbridge Baths Volunteer Fire Dept., Kerrs Creek Volunteer Fire Dept., Buena Vista Rescue Squad, Glasgow Life Saving and First Aid, Fairfield Volunteer Rescue Squad, Goshen Fire Dept., Lexington Fire Dept., Lexington Life Saving and First Aid, Effinger, Mountain View, Fairfield, and Glasgow/Natural Bridge Weekday Religious Education, Buena Vista Community Share Project Food Bank, Natural Bridge/Glasgow Food Pantry, Rockbridge Area Hospice, Rockbridge Area Free Clinic, Meals for Shutins, The National D-Day Foundation, Rockbridge Area Relief Association, The Talking Book Center, The AARP Foundation, and the Maury River Senior Center.
