| “Time Changer” will be shown at First Brethren Church in Buena Vista on Thursday, December 31 at 9:00 p.m. Admission is free and the community is invited to attend.
What if you could see the effect of your beliefs on others? That’s the idea behind this fascinating film set in the 1890’s.
Bible Professor Russell Carlisle (D. David Morin) has written a book to help people live morally. His book, “The Changing Times,” is about to receive a unanimous endorsement from his colleagues until Dr. Norris Anderson (Gavin MacLeod) raises concerns over a “difficulty” in the manuscript.
Dr. Anderson believes what Carlisle wrote will seriously affect future generations. Using a secret time machine, Anderson sends Carlisle more than 100 years into the future. When Carlisle sees where his ideas lead, he is shocked.
The movie sets up some very funny moments as well as some inward soul searching. It features a talented cast that also includes Hal Linden (Barney Miller), Jennifer O'Neill (Summer of ’42), and Paul Rodriguez. It was written and directed by Rich Christiano.
"It’s the most important work I’ve ever done,” said Gavin MacLeod, well known for his TV roles in The Love Boat and The Mary Tyler Moore Show. “Some futuristic films take you from the present into the future. But what Rich did with this script was take you from 1890 to today, and you can really see the differences in thinking, behavior and lifestyles.”
“Time Changer” is an entertaining movie,” said the Rev. Christian Becker, Senior Pastor at First Brethren Church. “And the surprise ending will leave you wondering about our future.”
“If you're looking for a great way to ring in the New Year with your family,” added Becker “this is it. There will be free popcorn during the movie and refreshments afterwards. At Midnight we'll ring in the New Year with the church bell.”
First Brethren Church is in Buena Vista at 100 E 29th Street (U.S. 60 E). Assisted listening devices are available and the church is handicapped accessible. For information call 261-6425.
