Kenneth Walters Promoted To Colonel

 
At a ceremony held at Little Rock Air Force Base in Little Rock, AR on April 1, 2010, Kenneth A. Walters was promoted to Colonel in the United States Air Force.

     Colonel Walters has excelled as an aviator in the cockpit as well as proving his value on the ground as a Flight Commander, Squadron, Group, and Air Force Executive Officer, Asst. Dir. of Operations, and Personnel Officer. As a Lt. Colonel he was assigned to the Joint Chiefs of Staff in Washington, D.C. There he assisted the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs in providing the best possible military advice to the Secretary of Defense and the President on all matters involving U.S. military forces. He then proved his leadership mettle as the 348th Recruiting Squadron Commander and most recently as the Deputy Group Commander for the 367th Recruiting Group. Colonel Walters is currently Director of Staff for the 19th Airlift Wing, Little Rock Air Force Base.

     Walters is a 1983 graduate of Parry McCluer High School. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Virginia Military Institute in 1988. He has a Master of Arts degree in Business and a second Masters in Military Science.

     Colonel Walters is the son of Mary L. Walters, of Raphine, and the late Carl B. Walters. He is the brother of Randy Walters, assistant principal at Rockbridge County High School. He is married to the former Amy Yelverton of Buena Vista. They have two children, a son, Ryan, and a daughter, Paige. They currently live in Cabot, Arkansas.
