Flu Shots Available At Kroger Pharmacies

ROANOKE, VA (September 12, 2011) - Kroger is making it easy and affordable for customers to protect themselves and their families against seasonal flu viruses by offering early vaccinations at one of the 115 pharmacies in the Mid-Atlantic region.

The cost of the flu vaccine is $25. Insurance plans may cover the cost, and Kroger will bill the insurer for health plans that Kroger accepts.

The flu vaccines are administered by Kroger’s own

Certified Immunizing Pharmacists.

No appointment is necessary at Kroger pharmacies, which are open seven days a week. Pharmacy hours vary, so call your local Kroger pharmacy to check on its hours of operation.

â€śHealth experts recommend a yearly flu vaccine as the first and most important step to protect against seasonal flu viruses,” said Carl York, spokesman for Kroger’s Mid-Atlantic region. “Kroger offers a variety of options to our customers, including needle-free flu vaccinations available in many locations and a customized Workplace flu program to help companies provide for their employees.”

The Centers for Disease Control recommends an annual flu shot for all people age 6 months and older. Influenza is among the common respiratory illnesses in the United States, infecting millions every flu season. Flu shots have proven to reduce illness, absenteeism and flu-related medical expenses.
