Hull’s Drive-In Goes Back to the Future
Capital Campaign To Fund $200,000 Digital Upgrade Launched

Hull’s Angels, the non-profit management foundation for Hull’s Drive-In, announced today the launch of a $200,000 Capital Campaign to secure funding to upgrade the current 35mm projection system to a new, state-of-the-art Digital Screening System that will propel the Drive-In into the future. The new system will allow Hull’s Drive-In to screen more of the first-run films families want to come and enjoy.

Recent news out of Hollywood reveals that the classic 35mm format will no longer be supported after the spring of 2013, prompting Hull’s Board of Directors to move to the Digital format during the summer of 2012.

“Converting to the Digital Format will require a major system upgrade including updating the current electric service to the property, a new projection system and a sophisticated computer to run the system," explained Executive Director Maggi George. "Additionally, Hull’s will need to replace the current movie screen so all Hull's fans can take advantage of the vibrant clarity that will be generated by the new system, as well as the digitally enhanced sound that will now flow through the original classic speakers.”

The upgrades will have a price tag of nearly $200,000 over the cost of operating the theater during the next two summer seasons. Hull’s Board of Directors has been aware of the pending phase-out of the 35mm format and has prepared financially for this day, having already put aside a portion of the required funds.

How much is Hull’s Drive-In worth to you? As many recall, the community stepped up and saved Hull’s Drive-In from closing in 1999. Once again, we need your help! Hull's Angels asks for all passionate summer "Movies Under The Stars" fans to pledge just $50 a year for three-years to help with the cost of the upgrade. That’s just $4.17 a month or a mere 14 cents per day to preserve the community's beloved drive-in. If all the fans of the drive-in were to commit to this low level of support, Hull's have the funds needed for this critical conversion and new screen so all will be able enjoy the drive-in for generations to come.

And don’t forget – as the nation’s first 501(c)3 designated not-for-profit drive-in theater, any contributions you make will be tax deductible!
