Miss Virginia Visits Lexington Fundraiser September 21st At Tuscany Italian Restaurant By Patte Wood Staff Reporter   Miss Virginia 2006, Adrianna Sgarlata, made a visit to the studios of 3WZ/WREL this past week to promote a fundraising event she will be taking part in on September 21, 2006, at the Tuscany Italian Restaurant. At Lexington's local radio station she was interviewed live, on-air, by Jim Bresnahan and by Mark Dougherty about the special event. The fundraiser, "Dinner, Wine and Opera," will include fine Italian cuisine and wine, highlighted by Miss Virginia singing eight opera pieces (to include the song that won her the Preliminary Talent Award at the recent Miss VA competition) and sharing with the local community how the Miss VA/Miss America Organization helps promote scholarship, success, style, and service. The dinner will be held on Thursday, September 21, 2006 from 7-10:00 p.m. Four courses will be served paired with Italian wines. The cost for the dinner is $75/person, including wine, tax and gratuity and proceeds will benefit Adrianna as she prepares for the Miss American competition in January 2007. Sgarlata is a graduate student at George Mason University and has appeared in over 14 operas sung in 7 different languages. She is raising money to help fund her preparations for the upcoming Miss America competition, to cover the expenses she will incur during the year she serves as Miss VA, and to raise money for the Miss VA scholarship fund.
