The 24th district covers Albemarle, Augusta, Rockbridge, Rockingham, Green, and Highland Counties and the Cities of Lexington, Waynesboro and Staunton.

Sayer also explained that he has been involved in the public schools, in business, is a hunter, has a military background, and is one of the largest employers of adults with disabilities in the County.

"I know how to create jobs," he said. "I know how to do what policy makers just talk about. I will take a business person's approach, gathering information and looking to understand a situation from all sides," explained. "I am process oriented and before forming a platform I will be gathering information and looking for solutions during the next four months. Action not policy making is what I will be emphasizing."

Sayre says he has great respect for Senator Emmett Hanger and this will not be a negative campaign.

"I want to be able to teach people to think about how to make changes in our culture so that there is revenue but we don't have to raise taxes," he said. "Creative thinking will solve the real problems along with commitment and passion to overcome obstacles."

Sayre is founder and owner of Sayre Enterprises that now employs 120 people. He was born and raised in Waynesboro graduating from Waynesboro High School and graduating from VMI in 1980. He has been married for 26 years to his wife Mary Brandt Sayre and has two children, Trevor and Mary Scott, currently attending college. He served nine years in active military service in the U.S. Army as a Captain, has served as a scout master, as Chairman of the Buena Vista Business Development Council and is an avid turkey hunter and outdoorsman.
