Master Storyteller Lisa Hollingsworth will present a storytelling workshop on Saturday, July 28 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Mabry Mill on the Blue Ridge Parkway. The workshop is one of the summer workshops sponsored by the Friends of the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Friends Of Blue Ridge Parkway Sponsor Workshops Master Storyteller Lisa Hollingsworth Featured Saturday, July 28   The Blue Ridge Parkway is offering the second of this summer’s series of workshops. Master Storyteller Lisa Hollingsworth will present a storytelling workshop on Saturday, July 28 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Mabry Mill. During the Storytelling Workshop participants will learn how to choose a story and make it their own, how develop a story with great ingredients, how to make characters come alive, and how to use their voice, face and body in telling a story. Hollingsworth’s workshop incorporates creative games, listening to stories, critical analysis, and experimenting with telling stories. The fee for the workshop is $10 for friends members and $15 for non-members. Participants limited to 25. Advanced reservations are requested. Interested people may make reservations by calling the Rocky Knob Visitor Center at 540-745-9662. The workshop is co-sponsored by Friends of the Blue Ridge Parkway, Inc. The Friends is a non-profit, membership organization that recruits and provides leadership for volunteers who assist with projects on the Parkway such as trail building and maintenance, public programs, and viewshed protection. Fees are payable the day of the workshop in cash or check made out Friends of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Other workshops coming up this summer include two separate Weaving and Spinning Workshops. The first will be held in the Doughton Park area at the Brinegar Cabin, milepost 238.5 on Saturday, August 11 from 1-4 pm. The second is scheduled for Saturday, September 8 from 1-4 pm at Mabry Mill, milepost 176.1 and Chair Bottoming Workshop at Mabry Mill on Saturday, September 22 from 1-4 pm at Mabry Mill.
